Samuel Isaiah Smith-Bill Memorial Scholarship

The Daisy Wong Family Foundation is proud to establish the Samuel Isaiah Smith-Bill Memorial Scholarship in loving memory of Samuel Isaiah Smith-Bill—a devoted and compassionate son of Thelma Smith-Bill, and best friend of Jeremy Benjamin whose life was tragically cut short following a cancer diagnosis at the tender age of 16. Sammy, as he was called by Daisy, was loved and adored by the entire Richardson-Benjamin household. He was revered for his game-winning electrifying basketball skills in Mansfield Township as his cheerleader Daisy who NEVER missed a game stood in the stands shouting, “go Sammy, go Sammy go!”

Samuel was known for his kind heart, caring spirit, and the light he brought into the lives of those around him. Though his time was brief, his impact was profound, and his legacy continues to inspire love, resilience, and hope. According to his coach Ray Benjamin, “Sam was small in stature, but possessed the biggest heart.”

To honor Samuel’s memory and ensure his light continues to shine, the Daisy Wong Family Foundation will award an annual scholarship to a graduating senior of North Burlington Regional High School, in Burlington County, New Jersey. This scholarship will support students pursuing excellence in athletics or drama, reflecting the passion, creativity, and dedication that Samuel embodied.

Through this scholarship, we celebrate Samuel’s life, uplift young people in their dreams, and affirm our commitment to nurturing talent, perseverance, and community. His memory lives on in every student encouraged to pursue their gifts with courage and heart.
